On September 15, the Korea Small Business Association (SBA), which is an organization representing the interests of 7.5 million small business owners, stated, "We strongly urge to appoint Naver Chairman Lee Hae-jin as a witness at the National Assembly audit."
The SBA stated, "We plan to host a press conference in front of Parliament House on the 16th and urge to appoint chairman Lee as a witness at the Assembly audit."
Regarding upcoming National Assembly's regular session in September and the Assembly audit in October, the association stressed, "For the sake of small business owners and people who are suffering losses due to Naver's monopolistic practices and search media power, we will put full efforts into legislating Naver regulation act and appointing Naver Chairman Lee as a witness."
Through a written statement that was distributed in advance, the SBA urged, "We demand to appoint Lee Hae-jin as a witness at the National Assembly audit. We won't let other complicated political issues bury Naver issue."
The SBA criticized, "Naver is exerting its financial power in lobbying while postponing the announcement of coexistence measures for smaller firms."
The association said, "Using its dominant position as a market-dominating enterpriser, Naver is exploiting small business owners and small and medium companies. Although they are seeking for coexistence externally, they are still menacing small business owners' right to live with unfair practices by putting click ads and keyword search ads on top of actual search results, infringing trademarks, and more."
