Small businesses have declared war against 'dinosaur portal' Naver. On July 31, Small Business Federation Organizing Committee has declared war against Naver and announced that it will organize Small Business Committee on Naver Affairs to struggle in earnest in order to protect the right to live of 7.5 million small businesses from Naver's unfair practices and small market invasion.
Their declaration of war shows that Naver has expanded to every profitable market, threatening small businesses' right to live.
Naver has been criticized for expanding recklessly its internet business lines including games, shopping malls, commodity price comparing, advertising, real estate, news service, music, books, computer vaccines, movies, magazines, online payment, restaurant reviews, app store, fashion information, web-toons, free text message offering, phone decorating, and virtually every internet business, devastating internet industry.
In the process, Naver has been branded as 'Copy Cat' by stealing contents from SMEs and venture companies and ideas of college students.
In addition, Naver placed fake brand ads on top of its search page in response to receiving monthly advertisement charge, shutting down blue-chip companies which produced authentic products,
As situation became serious, small businesses decided to take actions. On July 30, Small Business Federation Organizing Committee organized 'Small Business Committee on Naver Affairs' and decided to hold 'Small business NHN damage case briefing session' every week.
Small Business Committee on Naver Affairs issued a press release on July 31 and pointed out that Naver has been abusing its position of occupying 75 percent of local internet search market and conducting unfair practices over most of small businesses in the real estate and internet fields, such as imposing excessive advertising charge.
The committee bitterly criticized NHN's co-existence measures announced back on the 29th. The committee said, "Naver has neglected the nature of the problem and we reconfirmed that it has no will to co-exist."
The 1st 'Small business NHN damage case briefing session' will be held on August 7 at 11 a.m. at the Korea Federation of Small and Medium Business building.
