On July 25, Kim In-Sung, professor of Computer Science at Hanyang University, had an interview with AsiaToday and pointed out that Naver's searching system is threatening survival of writers.

Professor Kim is the author of 'Two Faced Naver, How Naver has been dominating us', which reveals how Naver has done harm to our society. Just a few years ago, he used to operate a blog offered by Naver.

Professor Kim said, "I once wrote a post titled "You're the Man Sooda (Chatter) Man" which created a stir. It reached out to thousands of visitors when it was posted on the main page of Naver. However, once it was replaced with new posts, you couldn't search the original post anymore. Instead, you could only find other Naver bloggers' posts who scrapped and shared the original link. This is a good example that shows Naver's searching system does not respect the original content."

He said, "I don't think it's a bad idea to scrap other blogger's content letting Naver show their pirated contents to others. There are many benefits for a writer because you can promote your post when other bloggers scrap your post and the portal lets others see it. But the problem is Naver exposes its internal pirated content above the original one."

He revealed, "Since Naver is not protecting the original content, it is threatening writers' right to live. Who would search for the original content for a long time when you can easily search for information you want through pirated contents?"

Professor Kim said, "Exposing on top of searching page largely depends on the original content and the writer's influence."

He said, "Since Naver is a portal site, it should focus more on the role of a portal which provides many different content to users more accurately and transparently rather than creating its own content and accumulating it. Most of all, it should protect the original content and provide it to the users preferentially."
