'Dinosaur portal' Naver unilaterally has removed an influential media from its internet search, ruling tyrannically that goes against the "creative economy" and "economic democracy", the foundation of the Park Geun-Hye government.
It was later found on July 22 that Naver removed an internet media, chogabje.com, without a special reason or explanation from its search engine. Naver has been evoking criticism for unilaterally removing certain influential media and websites from its search engine.
Kim Pil-Jae, chogapje.com reporter, said, "Earlier this year, I received an email from Naver saying that the website will be eliminated from Naver's news search. It was merely a short elimination notice without any explanation."
Since Naver controls nearly 75 percent of the country's internet search market, being kicked out from Naver's search engine means death sentence.
Some point out that the removal of 'chogapje.com' from Naver search engine is related to its criticism against Naver during the last presidential election period over anti-Park Geun-Hae black propaganda.
Byun Hee-Jae, head of Media Watch, said, "The reason for chogapje.com's removal might be related to its criticism against Naver for using false propaganda on iPad scandal of Saenuri Party presidential candidate Park Geun-Hye by placing the scandal related keywords on top of its keyword search ranking list for more than 48 hours, which eventually turned out to be false."
The scandal started to heat up when back on 10th December, democratic congressman Jung Chung-Rae posted a message right after the second TV debate of presidential candidates on his Facebook, "Park Geun-Hye's cheating? Now she's using high-tech notebook. What a shame. I can't believe she's a presidential candidate" along with a photo of Park Geun-Hye looking at her bag.
Agreeing with Jung's claim, Democrats accused candidate Park for cheating with iPad. On the next day, Deputy Spokesperson Heo Young-Il stated, "Candidate Park's cheating rumors are circulating on social networking services. If you look at the photo, candidate Park has put her iPad window bag on her knees."
The rumors were found to be false. They claimed that candidate Park looked at her bag during the debate but it was revealed to be taken before the debate. It was also revealed that candidate Park didn't carry her iPad to the debate. Congressman Jung Chung-Rae officially apologized through his Twitter on the same day. He wrote, "I posted a photo and a message doubting candidate Park's cheating allegation but I immediately deleted it due to trust issues. I apologize for causing trouble as a result."
However, Naver placed Park's iPad photo on its real-time rising 'SNS Hot Keyword' for more than 48 hours even after it was revealed to be false. 'SNS Hot Keyword' was one of the pages of 'The 18th Presidential Election' section where real-time hot issues on the internet were posted by Naver.

'Park Geun-Hye's iPad scandal' photo was placed on top of Naver's 'SNS Hot Keyword' for 3 days from December 11th to 13th. The photo was posted even bigger on December 13.
Some criticized that Naver intentionally put a certain candidate at a considerable disadvantage by posting false news continuously while introducing favorable contents for opposition parties during the last presidential election period.
