SBS' Mon-Tue drama 'Jang Ok Jung, Live for Love's heroine Kim Tae-Hee revealed her feelings about low ratings and criticism of her acting.
'Jang Ok Jung' held a press conference on May 24 at their film set in Ilsan, Kyunggi-do. Kim Tae-Hee attended the event and said, "To be honest, I was very hurt because of the low ratings for the drama and criticisms of my acting."
The actress continued, "I didn't know the ratings would decline that much. PD, writers, cast and all the crew were confused. My previous dramas had the good ratings although I received criticisms for my acting. But this time, although we had a lot of overnight filming sessions, I received the same amount of criticisms and the ratings were still low. So it was very hard for me in the beginning."
She said, "If it was in the past, I would have died because I was too ashamed of it. But I tried to change the situation positively because I was the leading actress and I knew that if I wouldn't go forward, then the drama would not work as properly as it should be."
Kim Tae-Hee is currently playing the role of Jang Ok Jung, who is the only lover and the political partner of Chosun's king Lee Soon (played by Yoo Ah In).
Jang Ok-Jung began to change as a ferocious woman in order to survive from the people surrounding her. Kim Tae-Hee's acting became more natural and the ratings increased to around 10 percent.
She said, "I'm very thankful for the positive comments and the higher ratings. But there's still a long way to go. The drama is only half way done."
