GS Global is making an equity investment in carbon credit specialist Hooxi Partners, embarking on a full-scale entry into the carbon credit trading business. The plan seeks to monetize greenhouse gas reduction performances generated from existing businesses—such as electric buses and renewable energy—into tradable assets, while expanding operations by leveraging its overseas client networks.

On the 20th, GS Global announced that it executed an equity investment in Hooxi Partners the previous day and established a strategic cooperative relationship. This investment is aimed at addressing the fourth phase of the Emissions Trading Scheme implemented from this year through 2030. Amid mounting burdens on corporations to secure emissions allowances due to reductions in total emission caps and expansions in paid allocations, GS Global plans to secure new revenue streams by linking carbon credit trading with its established eco-friendly businesses.

Established in 2021, Hooxi Partners is an enterprise that carries out operations ranging from identifying greenhouse gas reduction projects to certifying and trading reduction credits. In particular, it secures reduction credits through a program that aggregates and manages multiple electric vehicle transition projects. Its revenue grew from 200 million won in 2024 to 3.2 billion won last year, with 7.8 billion won projected for this year.

GS Global plans to obtain certification for Korean Offset Credits (KOC) generated from electric bus transitions, solar power, biomass, and resource circulation businesses, supplying them to domestic and international buyers. It also plans to pursue the development of carbon reduction projects leveraging its overseas client network across steel, energy, and industrial materials.

A GS Global official said, "This investment is intended to preemptively enter the expanding carbon credit market and secure a new growth frontier," adding, "We will enhance our carbon credit procurement and trading capabilities, while broadening the scope of cooperation through domestic and international carbon reduction projects."
