As the KOSDAQ index surged on the 16th, a temporary halt on program buy orders, known as a buy sidecar, was activated.
According to the Korea Exchange on that day, program buy orders were suspended for five minutes on the KOSDAQ market at 12:55 p.m.
A KOSDAQ buy sidecar is triggered when the front-month KOSDAQ 150 futures contract rises 6% or more from the previous session and the KOSDAQ 150 index gains 3% or more, with that trend lasting for one minute.
As of 1:38 p.m. on the same day, the KOSDAQ index was trading at 801.56, up 5.35% from the previous trading session.
