Hyosung Chemical is targeting the European market by expanding the application of its high-performance engineering plastic POKETONE from electric vehicles to humanoid robotics. The company plans to capture new demand by highlighting that the material, already proven in automotive components, can effectively withstand repeated motion and friction in robotic joints and drive mechanisms.

On the 12th, Hyosung Chemical announced its participation in Fakuma 2026, an international trade fair for plastics processing held in Friedrichshafen, Germany, running through the 16th. Centered on automotive, robotics, and healthcare themes, the company is showcasing automotive connectors, gears, drive components, and medical parts utilizing POKETONE.

POKETONE is a high-performance polymer characterized by superior impact resistance, wear resistance, chemical resistance, and low moisture absorption. It minimizes dimensional deformation caused by environmental shifts in temperature and humidity, while its mechanical strength, abrasion resistance, and flame retardancy can be customized depending on the end application. These attributes make it versatile across automotive and industrial equipment sectors.

Hyosung Chemical is placing particular emphasis on POKETONE's potential in robotics. Because humanoid robots rely on continuous and repetitive joint and drive movements, they require materials engineered to resist friction and wear. Leveraging these properties, POKETONE can be deployed in articulation gears and shaft-support components. The material has also been extending its footprint into the service robotics sector in recent months.

During the exhibition on the 14th, the company will host a technical seminar under the theme "Proven Worldwide, Engineered Forward." The session will present cross-industry case studies and examine strategies to expand POKETONE's scope of application.

Europe represents a market with high demand for advanced engineering materials, underpinned by its well-established automotive and industrial manufacturing base. Beyond conventional industrial material supply, Hyosung Chemical plans to accelerate POKETONE's integration into future-oriented sectors such as electric mobility and robotics, while deepening partnerships with European manufacturers.

Lee Chun-seok, CEO of Hyosung Chemical, stated, "POKETONE is steadily broadening its scope of application across diverse industries, including electric vehicles, robotics, and medical devices. In response to industry shifts that demand both sustainability and high performance, we will continue expanding POKETONE's market presence through collaborative partnerships and tailored technical support."
