Doosan Enerbility has won a combined-cycle power plant construction deal in Vietnam valued at approximately 840 billion won. Following last year's O Mon 4 project win, the company will supply its proprietary steam turbines to a Vietnamese combined-cycle power plant for the first time.
Doosan Enerbility announced on the 1st that it signed a construction contract for the O Mon 3 combined-cycle power plant with Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group (Petrovietnam/PVN).
Doosan Enerbility formed a consortium with PTSC, an energy services subsidiary of PVN, to execute engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC). The company will also directly supply the steam turbines, a core equipment component of the power station.
The O Mon 3 plant will be constructed within the O Mon power generation complex, located about 180 kilometers southwest of Ho Chi Minh City. Situated in the same complex as the O Mon 4 plant won last year, the facility will feature a generation capacity of 1,155 megawatts (MW) and is scheduled for completion in 2030. The company expects the plant to contribute to stabilizing power supplies across southern Vietnam once completed.
Lee Seong-yeol, head of Plant EPC Sales at Doosan Enerbility, said, "Following O Mon 4 last year, securing the O Mon 3 project has once again proven our competitiveness in the Vietnamese combined-cycle power generation market." He added, "Building on the successful execution of the O Mon 3 and 4 projects, we will actively move to expand our order intake in Vietnam's power market."
With this contract, Doosan Enerbility's order intake for domestic and overseas combined-cycle power plant construction projects this year increased to a total of five projects valued at approximately 3.87 trillion won. Following awards in June for Phase 2 of the Jafurah cogeneration plant in Saudi Arabia and the Duqm combined-cycle power plant in Oman, the company went on to sign contracts for the Misfah combined-cycle power plant in Oman in August and the Hadong combined-cycle power plant last month.
