Claude, developed by U.S. generative AI service company Anthropic, has secured the second spot behind ChatGPT in both monthly active users and new installs in the domestic mobile AI app market. It maintained the No. 2 position in monthly active users for three consecutive months and in new installs for five consecutive months.
According to Mobile Index from AI tech company IGAWorks on the 25th, Claude recorded 1,499,096 monthly active users across combined Android and iOS AI app data in South Korea last month, ranking second behind ChatGPT's 17,099,052 users.
Claude has held the second spot in monthly active users for three straight months since June. It was followed by SK Telecom's A. (A-Dot) with 1,149,684 users, Perplexity with 603,474 users, and Grok with 546,315 users.
In new installs, Claude also placed second behind ChatGPT (647,439 installs) with 286,823 installs, maintaining the No. 2 spot for five consecutive months since April.
Google Gemini followed Claude in third place with 204,672 new installs. Grok came in fourth with 121,605 installs, while the AI character chat app PolyBuzz took fifth place with 67,945 installs.
