Kakao is set to introduce its first integrated membership program, bringing together benefits from its major services. The company aims to broaden user engagement and strengthen links across its paid services, shopping, financial and content offerings.

Kakao said on Sept. 21 that it has begun accepting requests for launch notifications ahead of the soft launch of “Kakao Membership” on Oct. 1. To ensure service stability, sign-ups will initially be limited to a small number of users on a first-come, first-served basis before being gradually expanded.

Kakao Membership is the company’s first integrated membership program. It will connect existing paid services such as emoticons and Talk Cloud with services including Kakao Gifts, Melon, Kakao Pay and Kakao Securities. The company also plans to offer welcome benefits for new subscribers and additional rewards for purchases through Kakao Gifts.

Detailed membership benefits and registration procedures will be unveiled on Oct. 1. Starting now, users who add the “Kakao Membership” KakaoTalk channel as a friend will receive a launch notification message and a sign-up link on the day of release. The channel can be added through the Kakao Now banner in KakaoTalk’s More tab or by searching for it in the Friends section.

“Kakao Membership goes beyond simply bundling various benefits,” said Kim Min-gyu, a performance leader at Kakao. “Its significance lies in allowing users to enjoy a more convenient and connected range of benefits within a single membership.”

“We plan to provide practical benefits that users can experience only through Kakao Membership,” he added.
