APR has scientifically demonstrated the potential efficacy of its core beauty device technology in hair loss treatment.
According to APR on the 15th, findings from a recent joint industry-academia study titled "Radiofrequency Microporation Enhances Topical Minoxidil Delivery and Hair Regeneration in Androgenetic Alopecia" were published on the 28th of last month in Pharmaceutics, an international academic journal ranked in the top quartile (Q1, top 10%) of the pharmacology field by Journal Citation Reports.
Researchers evaluated how effectively topical minoxidil penetrates the skin and promotes hair regrowth using animal models, leveraging the radiofrequency (RF) microporation technology featured in the Air Shot mode of APR's home beauty device, the Medicube Age-R Booster Pro X2.
The study revealed that when RF microporation was applied in conjunction with topical minoxidil, deposition of minoxidil in the epidermis and dermis surged by up to 2.40-fold compared to topical application alone. In addition, significant improvements in hair coverage, length, and shaft thickness were observed in animal models of androgenetic alopecia.
Topical minoxidil applied directly to the scalp is widely recommended as the primary pharmacological treatment for female pattern hair loss. However, topical formulations face a structural limitation: active ingredients struggle to sufficiently reach the skin and surrounding hair follicles because they must penetrate the stratum corneum, the outermost layer of the scalp.
APR's RF microporation holds significant promise beyond minoxidil delivery, as it can be expanded into a platform technology that enhances the absorption of various active ingredients for scalp and hair care.
APR plans to continue validating the applicability, efficacy, and safety of this platform technology in hair loss treatment through subsequent clinical studies, aiming to present a new paradigm in the scalp and hair care market based on sufficient clinical evidence.
