Celltrion’s omalizumab biosimilar Omlyclo is showing rapid growth in major European markets.
Celltrion said on Sept. 10 that Omlyclo, used to treat chronic spontaneous urticaria and allergic asthma, is estimated to have surpassed a 90% market share in Spain as of July and has posted sales in Italy exceeding the company’s initial business targets. Omlyclo is currently sold in 26 European countries.
To expand that momentum across Europe, Celltrion participated in the 2026 European Respiratory Society (ERS) Congress held in Barcelona, Spain, from Sept. 5 to 9 local time. ERS is Europe’s largest respiratory medicine conference, attracting about 20,000 healthcare professionals and researchers from around the world each year. Celltrion operated an independent booth at the event to highlight Omlyclo’s product features and competitiveness.
Celltrion launched Omlyclo in Europe late last year and expanded the lineup in August with the addition of a 300 mg formulation. At the congress, the company promoted key advantages including multiple dosage options of 75 mg, 150 mg and 300 mg, support for both prefilled syringes (PFS) and autoinjectors (AI), a latex-free design and stable supply capabilities.
On Sept. 6, the second day of the congress, a scientific session was held on the clinical significance of omalizumab treatment and its potential use in real-world medical settings. Roland Buhl, a globally recognized asthma expert and professor in the Department of Pulmonary Medicine at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz in Germany, participated as a speaker. The session highlighted the practical benefits Omlyclo can offer in clinical settings and presented clinical experience involving pediatric and pregnant patients.
Celltrion plans to strengthen scientific, sales and marketing activities tailored to the market conditions of each country in order to translate the interest generated among healthcare professionals at the congress into increased prescriptions and sales. In December, the company also plans to participate in the Global Urticaria Forum 2026 in Berlin, Germany, to promote Omlyclo’s scientific value and product competitiveness.
“Omlyclo has expanded its sales network to 26 European countries and is already showing meaningful early results in major markets such as Spain and Italy,” a Celltrion official said. “Based on our diverse dosage options and devices, as well as stable supply capabilities, we will strengthen country-specific tender strategies and scientific engagement with healthcare professionals and expand successful market-growth models across Europe.”
