Ssangyong E&C under Global Sae-A Group is stepping up its safety management by expanding the deployment of smart safety management systems utilizing artificial intelligence (AI) across its construction sites.
Ssangyong E&C announced on the 10th that it has introduced intelligent AI CCTV, moving beyond conventional closed-circuit television (CCTV) monitoring that relied on visual checks by on-site safety managers, to enable AI to analyze on-site footage in real time.
Intelligent AI CCTV is a system in which AI analyzes on-site camera feeds to detect risk factors—such as careless behavior or abnormal movements by workers—and provide advance warnings of potential accidents. In situations where hazards such as falls or falling objects emerge, the system enables immediate responses via real-time alerts.
In particular, the company explained that CCTV feeds installed at construction sites can be monitored simultaneously from the control center of the safety department at headquarters, thereby strengthening the integrated safety management network between job sites and head office.
The company has also introduced dedicated safety systems for foreign workers. Ssangyong E&C operates AI translation Bluetooth speakers alongside automated multilingual voice warning speakers in hazardous zones for foreign personnel from countries including China, the Philippines, and Thailand.
Using the AI translation Bluetooth speakers allows work instructions and safety rules to be delivered directly on site in each worker's native language. The initiative aims to enhance work comprehension and prevent industrial accidents among foreign workers who face language barriers.
Automated foreign-language voice warning speakers have also been installed in high-risk zones prone to falls, falling objects, collisions, and equipment entrapment. When a worker approaches a hazardous area, warning messages are repeatedly broadcast in the relevant language to raise vigilance.
Through such smart safety management systems, Ssangyong E&C plans to practice its safety management slogan for this year—"Realizing Zero Serious Accidents Through Field-Centered Safe Workplaces"—and continue its streak of achieving zero serious industrial accidents for the second consecutive year.
