Samsung Electronics has reportedly launched an internal probe following allegations that several junior employees in its Device Solutions (DS) Division improperly received company-provided housing subsidies.

According to industry sources on the 8th, posts circulated on an anonymous corporate community board alleging that some DS Division employees working at the Pyeongtaek campus fraudulently claimed housing support by underreporting the floor area of their residences.

Samsung Electronics' DS Division has provided up to 700,000 won per month in rent support to employees stationed at the Pyeongtaek site who reside in studio apartments, one-room, or 1.5-room units smaller than 33 square meters (roughly 10 pyeong). The Pyeongtaek campus operates this welfare policy as an accommodation for employees commuting from distant home residences.

The company is currently verifying the facts with employees who received the housing subsidies.
