Gaon Cable is expanding its North American footprint by making its first entry into Canada's public power grid market. Building on its established track record of supplying cables to private industrial facilities, including AI data centers and semiconductor plants, the company has now diversified its client base to include public utility corporations.
On the 9th, Gaon Cable announced that it recently supplied medium-voltage (MV) cables to a major public electric utility in western Canada. This marks the company's first product export to the Canadian market.
In North America, Gaon Cable has primarily concentrated its operations on private industrial facilities, such as AI data centers, semiconductor manufacturing complexes, and power generation plants. Beginning with this delivery, the company plans to broaden its procurement scope into public infrastructure markets, encompassing power transmission and distribution grids.
Expanding investments in Canada's power infrastructure also present growing opportunities for local operations. With the rapid expansion of AI data centers and the growth of high-tech manufacturing, Canada projects its electricity demand to roughly double by 2050. In line with this projection, major grid expansion and modernization projects are underway nationwide.
Gaon Cable plans to scale up its North American supply chain by leveraging both its domestic headquarters and LSCUS, its manufacturing subsidiary located in North Carolina, U.S. The company projects its North American revenue to surge by more than 50%, rising from approximately 300 million dollars last year to roughly 470 million dollars this year.
Gaon Cable CEO Jung Hyun stated, "Entering Canada's public power grid marks a critical milestone that upgrades the qualitative foundation of our North American business and broadens our operational horizons," adding, "We will continue to strengthen our market presence across the North American power infrastructure sector, spanning both the U.S. and Canada."
