Cheong Wa Dae stated on the 3rd regarding moves by the U.S. government to pursue semiconductor tariffs, "We understand that specific details have not yet been finalized." The South Korean government plans to monitor related developments while continuing consultations with the U.S. side to prevent adverse effects on Korean enterprises.

In a press notice released that day, Cheong Wa Dae made the remarks, saying, "The government plans to closely consult with the U.S. side to ensure that there is no adverse impact on our companies while closely monitoring related trends."

Earlier on the 2nd local time, U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick appeared on U.S. network CNBC and outlined a policy to implement "targeted and thoughtful tariff policy" on semiconductors.

Secretary Lutnick said, "If you build in America, we will give you tariff relief, and if you don't build in America, then you will pay tariffs to enter the greatest market in the world."

Review of semiconductor tariffs by the U.S. government has surfaced repeatedly in recent times. Politico, a U.S. political media outlet, reported on the 27th of last month that the Donald Trump administration is considering further large-scale tariffs on semiconductors.
