Caritas Korea International announced on the 1st that it will provide 100,000 U.S. dollars in emergency relief to residents affected by flash floods in the Rasuwa district of Nepal.

With 626 deaths and 2,426 missing persons confirmed, Caritas Nepal continues to operate soup kitchens and provide relief to 1,000 households.

Caritas Korea launched a "Special Fundraising Campaign for Nepal Flood Emergency Relief" on the 31st of last month. Caritas Korea decided to deliver the aid funds through Caritas Nepal to be used for emergency relief projects for affected residents. The raised funds will be forwarded to Caritas Nepal for emergency relief, and mid- to long-term support will also continue for flood recovery, rehabilitation, and prevention of additional damage.

Caritas Internationalis confirmed 626 dead and 2,426 missing as of the 29th of last month. With roads, telecommunications, and power infrastructure collapsed, disruptions have also hit search and rescue operations as well as relief supply deliveries. In the affected areas, resident evacuations, temporary shelter provisions, and supplies for food, drinking water, sanitation, and medical care are urgently needed.

Caritas Nepal is assessing the extent of damage and emergency relief needs alongside local governments and partner organizations. Since the 28th of last month, it has been providing meals to affected residents at more than 50 soup kitchens.

Locally, it is providing 1,000 affected households with temporary shelters, essential daily necessities, drinking water and hygiene kits, as well as solar-powered lighting and charging facilities.

Meanwhile, Caritas Korea is a full member organization of Caritas Internationalis, which is headquartered in the Vatican. Caritas Internationalis is a Catholic international relief and development cooperation network comprising 162 member organizations worldwide.
