A son of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was urgently evacuated in the U.S. to escape threats to his personal safety, Israel's domestic intelligence agency Shin Bet stated on the 30th (local time).

According to U.S. political news outlet Politico, Shin Bet confirmed in a statement that day that there was a "significant threat" against the prime minister's eldest son, Yair Netanyahu. However, no specific details regarding the matter were provided.

Prime Minister Netanyahu recently stated in an interview with an Israeli television network that Iran had attempted to assassinate one of his sons.

Yair Netanyahu has been residing in Miami, U.S., since 2023, spending most of his time abroad while Israel has been engaged in warfare across the Palestinian Gaza Strip, Lebanon, and Iran.

He has acted as an unofficial adviser to Prime Minister Netanyahu and sparked controversy by clashing on social media with critics of the prime minister.

Israeli news outlet The Jerusalem Post (JP) reported on the 16th of last month that Shin Bet approved an extension of security protection for Prime Minister Netanyahu's family.

As a result, Prime Minister Netanyahu will receive state-provided security for life, regardless of the outcome of the general election scheduled for Oct. 27 this year.

His wife, Sara Netanyahu, will receive security protection for as long as her husband lives, while his sons, Yair Netanyahu and Avner Netanyahu, will be protected for at least the next five years.
