As the KOSPI index surged on August 20, a temporary suspension of program buy orders (buy-side sidecar) was triggered.

According to the Korea Exchange on this day, the validity of program buy orders was halted for five minutes in the Kospi market at 9:57 a.m.

A KOSPI sidecar is triggered when the Kospi 200 futures price rises by 5 percent or more from the base price and remains sustained for one minute.

As of 10:21 a.m., the KOSPI index is trading at 6,801.30, up 5.10 percent from the previous trading day.
