Kakao says it won't enter AI data center business

Kakao said on the 6th, during its second-quarter earnings conference call, that it had reviewed entering the AI infrastructure business — including AI data centers and GPU cloud services — but decided not to move forward with it.


Kakao said, "The AI infrastructure business requires massive upfront investment and continuous capital spending, and with GPUs and AI servers needing frequent replacement, the return on investment isn't especially strong," adding, "Instead, we will focus our resources on the model and service layers, concentrating on building AI services that users can use in their everyday lives."
