Pre-orders for Samsung Electronics' newly launched "Galaxy Z8 series" are rising rapidly among younger consumers, in what is seen as reflecting strong immersion and anticipation around the new form factor.

Samsung Electronics said on the 31st that more than half of those who pre-ordered the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Fold8, and Flip8 on Samsung.com are in their teens through 30s. Pre-orders, which began on the 28th, will run through August 3. The company expects demand to peak as the pre-order period nears its end.

The company said the most popular model among these pre-orders was the "Galaxy Z Fold8," with cream being the most-chosen color. The Samsung.com-exclusive pistachio color and the signature lavender color were also popular, it said.

The "Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra," optimized for a large screen and multitasking, and the "Galaxy Z Flip8," known for its compact design and individuality, have also proven popular, the company added.

Samsung Electronics said, "The Galaxy Z series' popularity among users in their teens through 30s appears to stem from the various pre-order benefits that appeal to younger consumers."

During the pre-order period, customers who purchase the 256GB model receive a free storage upgrade to the 512GB model, worth 253,000 won. Those who pre-order the 512GB model can upgrade to the 1TB model by paying an additional 310,700 won — about half the usual price difference. Since this can reduce the cost burden by more than 300,000 won, customers who prefer higher storage capacity see even greater perceived benefits.

A Samsung Electronics official also explained that enhanced compatibility between Galaxy smartphones and devices from other manufacturers is another factor behind the strong pre-order numbers among younger customers.

iOS users can use "Smart Switch," which wirelessly transfers existing data to a Galaxy device via QR code without installing a separate app for quick initial setup, as well as "Quick Share," which makes data transfer and file sharing between iOS and Galaxy devices more convenient.

The devices also feature the convenient functions of "Samsung Wallet," an integrated digital wallet service recently updated to support overseas payments with Amex cards, along with Millie Pass and travel services.

A Samsung Electronics official said, "Through this pre-order period, we are seeing young consumers respond quickly, confirming the strong immersion and anticipation surrounding the new form factor and mobile experience," adding, "As the various benefits end on the 3rd of next month, we recommend customers make their purchase during the pre-order period."
