Celltrion's chronic idiopathic urticaria and allergic asthma treatment 'Omlyclo' / Celltrion

Celltrion is expanding orders and supply of its new biosimilar lineup in Italy, one of the five major European markets.

According to Celltrion on the 31st, "Omlyclo" (omalizumab), a treatment for chronic idiopathic urticaria and allergic asthma launched late last year, is now on sale in 15 Italian regions. In seven of those regions, Celltrion is the only omalizumab supplier to have signed a supply contract with the regional government.

In Tuscany and Emilia-Romagna, cumulative sales of Omlyclo from January to May this year already exceeded total omalizumab prescription volume for the same period last year. In Puglia and Umbria, Omlyclo is expected to account for more than 80% of annual omalizumab supply by year-end.

Tender results for new autoimmune disease treatments launched last year have also continued. "Steqeyma" (ustekinumab) has won tenders and is on sale in a total of nine regions, while "Avtozma" (tocilizumab) secured contracts in seven of the nine regions where tenders were held. Avtozma is expected to begin supply and prescription in the second half of the year.

The autoimmune disease treatment "Yuflyma" (adalimumab) and the cancer treatment "Vegzelma" (bevacizumab) are also showing solid sales. According to pharmaceutical market research firm IQVIA, Yuflyma and Vegzelma held 46% and 66% market share in Italy, respectively, in the first quarter of this year.

Yoo Won-sik, head of Celltrion's Italy subsidiary, said, "We will do our best to strengthen the position of our new biosimilars and continue growth in the Italian market in the second half of the year through tender participation and expanded supply coverage."
