Kwon Jeong-hyun, Vice President and Head of Autonomous Driving Development Center, AVP Division / Hyundai Motor Group

Hyundai Motor Group has recruited Vice President Kwon Jeong-hyun, an artificial intelligence (AI) expert who previously worked at Samsung Electronics and Nvidia, to strengthen its autonomous driving technology competitiveness.

Hyundai Motor Group announced on July 30 that it appointed Vice President Kwon Jeong-hyun as head of the Autonomous Driving Development Center in the AVP Division.

Vice President Kwon is an autonomous driving AI expert who led intelligent robot development at Samsung Electronics until recently and previously oversaw autonomous driving software development and commercialization at Nvidia.

After graduating from Seoul National University with a degree in mechanical engineering, he earned a doctorate from the same university. He accumulated his career in autonomous driving, computer vision, and AI technology development across companies including SAIC, Ricoh, Nvidia, and Samsung Electronics.

Moving forward, Vice President Kwon will oversee the development and commercialization of core autonomous driving technologies, including autonomous vehicle perception software, deep learning, machine learning, and computer vision.

Through this hiring, Hyundai Motor Group plans to advance its autonomous driving technologies and accelerate the execution of its future mobility strategy.

Hyundai Motor Group has been continuing to recruit core talent in SDV (Software Defined Vehicle) and autonomous driving sectors.

Last July, the company recruited Senior Vice President Kim Dong-wook, who handled wireless communication system development for iPhones, vehicles, and humanoid robots at Apple and Tesla, as head of the SDV Platform Development Center in the AVP Division. It also appointed Senior Vice President Jeremy Ma, who led robotics and autonomous driving software development at Apple, Toyota, and Nvidia, as head of the Silicon Valley Center in the AVP Division.
