SK Hynix stated that demand for increased memory supply continues as major big tech customers expand their AI investments.

During its second-quarter earnings call on July 29, SK Hynix said, "Major customers are still requesting more supply."

Song Hyun-jong, President of the Corporate Center at SK Hynix, stated, "In the case of PCs and mobile APs, sales adjustments are occurring due to difficulties in securing memory volume. However, as supply shortages ease and AI services spread broadly in the future, growth momentum will recover," adding, "DRAM and NAND demand are expected to increase in the mid-20% and high-10% range, respectively, and if supply constraints ease, the scale of growth will expand further."

He continued, "Considering the increasing difficulty of advanced processes applied to HBM and AI server memory, as well as the lead time required to build new production facilities, it will be difficult for the supply and demand environment to improve in the short term," adding, "We are also continuing discussions with customers on multi-year contracts to secure mid-to-long-term supply stability."

In particular, the company explained that it has finalized long-term contract negotiations not only with existing clients but also with over 10 additional customers, designing pricing structures capable of responding to market volatility. It added that demand visibility for mid-to-long-term plans has been enhanced through contract fulfillment mechanisms such as deposits.
