Kakao is expanding its integration of AI features into KakaoTalk to enhance the user experience. Following its mobile release, "ChatGPT for Kakao" is now available on the PC version, and features like chatroom conversation summaries and AI image generation have been added to further advance the AI-powered messenger.

On July 15, Kakao announced that it rolled out its sixth major regular update (v26.6.0) for KakaoTalk, packed with various AI features and user convenience enhancements.

Through this update, a conversation summary feature for individual chatrooms has been newly introduced. By clicking the "Summarize Chat" button within a chatroom, users can see the core content of unread messages at a glance, allowing them to quickly catch up on key details and join the conversation even in chatrooms they haven't visited in a while.

"ChatGPT for Kakao" has been expanded to the PC version. Users can now access the service via the "ChatGPT" menu at the top of the Chats tab on their PC while maintaining the same conversation history and settings from the mobile version.

The AI image feature has also been enhanced. By selecting a photo exchanged in a chatroom and clicking "Create with AI," users can apply various image templates, such as animation styles or colored pencil drawings, to regenerate it into a new image. A key feature is that these images can be used directly within the chatroom without the need to save them separately.

A chatbot (beta) feature has also been introduced to Open Chats. Once the room host invites the chatbot, users can check various real-time information, such as the weather or stock quotes, without leaving the chatroom. Additionally, a new feature allows KakaoTalk Channels to delete sent messages within 24 hours.

"We have expanded the user experience so that users can utilize AI more easily and conveniently across KakaoTalk's diverse communication environments," a Kakao official said. "We will continue to sophisticatedly develop our services to ensure that everyday communication and AI experiences connect naturally."
