Late-night fire at Seongdong-gu apartment in Seoul injures 4 residents

A fire broke out late at night at an apartment building in Seongdong-gu, Seoul, leaving four residents injured.


According to fire authorities on July 14, the fire started at approximately 11:15 p.m. on July 13 at an apartment located in Haengdang-dong, Seongdong-gu.


As a result of the accident, a man in his 40s—a resident of the unit where the fire originated—suffered full-body burns and was rushed to the hospital. Three other residents sustained minor injuries from smoke inhalation.


It was confirmed that 74 other residents managed to evacuate the building on their own.


Fire authorities deployed 22 pieces of equipment and 80 personnel to completely extinguish the fire approximately 45 minutes after it broke out.


The fire department is currently investigating the cause of the blaze and the specific extent of the damage.
