Lee chairs national fiscal strategy meeting to discuss 'three mega projects'

President Lee Jae-myung will chair a "National Fiscal Strategy Meeting" at Cheong Wa Dae on July 13 to discuss the government's future fiscal management directions and key investment priorities, including financial backing for the "three mega projects."


Cheong Wa Dae unveiled the schedule through a press release issued earlier today.


Held under the slogan "An Irreplaceable South Korea Unlocked by Bold Innovation and Investment," the meeting brings together around 130 attendees. The guest list includes Prime Minister Han Seong-sook, cabinet members, and ministry officials, alongside key ruling party figures such as Acting Party Leader and Floor Leader Han Byung-do and Policy Committee Chair Han Jeoung-ae, as well as representatives from academia, research institutes, and civil society.


During the first session, Minister of Planning and Budget Park Hong-keun will present the "2027 Budget Proposal Blueprint and Mid-term Fiscal Management Directions." The second session will zero in on supporting the three mega projects, featuring a series of presentations: Background-hoon, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Science and ICT, on "Mega Projects: AI Data Centers and Physical AI"; Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Kim Jung-kwan on "Mega Projects: Semiconductors and AI Robots"; Minister of Climate and Energy Kim Sung-whan on "Infrastructure Innovation Strategies for Power and Water Supply in High-Tech Industries"; and Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Kim Yun-deok on "Strategies for Establishing High-Tech Semiconductor Industrial Complexes."


The third session, themed "Growth for All," will feature presentations by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Fiscal Economy Gu Yun-cheol on "Policy Directions for Youth," Minister of Employment and Labor Kim Young-hoon on plans to reinforce a reliable social safety net to protect "the lives of all working people," and Deputy Prime Minister Bae on "Policy Directions for AI for All." Open discussions will follow each session.
