Samsung Electronics is poised to unveil a new form factor within its eighth-generation foldable lineup at the upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event in London this month.

According to teaser videos for the eighth-generation foldables released on Samsung's official global Instagram and YouTube channels on the 1st, the company utilized everyday visuals—such as snapping a long chocolate bar and tearing sticker photos—to emphasize the specific proportions and silhouettes of its upcoming foldable devices.

The promotional footage signals Samsung’s strategy to enrich its mobile ecosystem as artificial intelligence integrates deeper into daily routines, positioning smartphones as the primary gateway for AI interaction. By upgrading the core functionalities of its legacy form factors and adding new choices, Samsung aims to diversify the overall user experience.

This launch marks a strategic expansion of Samsung's foldable portfolio. Since pioneering the market with the original Galaxy Fold in 2018, the tech giant has continuously advanced the category, focusing on turning flexible display technology into highly practical, daily mobile utilities.

To date, Samsung’s presence in the foldable market has rested on two pillars: the Galaxy Z Fold and the Galaxy Z Flip.

The Galaxy Z Fold series has prioritized multitasking and productivity through its expansive screen estate, while the Galaxy Z Flip series has captured users with its ultra-compact portability and personalized utility. Together, these two designs have anchored the company's foldable identity.

"We have successfully matured foldables from an experimental form factor into a premier mobile category tailored to diverse user preferences," a Samsung Electronics representative stated. "Our eighth-generation lineup is the culmination of years of iterative innovation."

Samsung noted that while the new generation will further boost the performance of the Fold and refine the unique usability of the Flip, it will simultaneously introduce a new option engineered to offer a wider, more seamless, and highly immersive viewing experience.

By reorganizing its foldable lineup around these distinct form factors, Samsung intends to deliver targeted solutions that address a much broader spectrum of consumer demands.
