Samsung Electro-Mechanics will supply multilayer ceramic capacitors (MLCCs) for artificial intelligence (AI) servers to a global big tech enterprise. This is a result of the company's MLCCs having their technological prowess recognized. The company’s strategy is to preempt the market by developing next-generation advanced frontier products in the future.

On the 30th, Samsung Electro-Mechanics announced that it recently signed an MLCC supply contract worth approximately 450 billion won with a big tech firm. The contract period spans one year from January 1st to December 31st of next year.

An MLCC is a core component that stores electricity and supplies it stably to semiconductors to assist smooth operations. It also possesses a function to increase the performance and stability of electronic products by removing signal interference (noise) inside them. Regarding this, the role of MLCCs in charge of stable power control under AI server environments has become more important, according to the explanation of a Samsung Electro-Mechanics official.

Currently, Samsung Electro-Mechanics occupies a 25% share in the overall global MLCC market. In the AI server MLCC market where the level of technological difficulty is high, it maintains a global leading position by securing a market share exceeding 40%. This is the result of establishing a differentiated standing in the AI server market based on ultra-small, high-capacity, and high-reliability product competitiveness.

Taking this contract as an opportunity, the company plans to proceed with various discussions including supply expansion after 2027 with global client companies and major big tech enterprises. Particularly, it plans to steadily expand the supply proportion centering on high-value-added products.

Chang Duck-hyun, CEO of Samsung Electro-Mechanics, stated, "This contract is the result of Samsung Electro-Mechanics’ MLCCs having their technological prowess recognized as a core component of the AI era," adding, "We will preempt the market by ahead developing next-generation advanced frontier products tailored to customer requirements."
