Hankook & Company Group is rallying its energy and carbon management capabilities by launching a group-wide "One Team" initiative aimed at achieving its 2050 carbon neutrality goal.

On June 22, Hankook & Company Group announced that it held a "Group-wide Energy Exchange Meeting" on June 17 at the Hankook Engineering Lab in Yuseong-gu, Daejeon. The event brought together around 20 executives and employees from three entities: the business-operating holding company Hankook & Company, and its core affiliates Hankook Tire & Technology and Hanon Systems, including energy managers from their respective production divisions. Participants discussed ways to strengthen their cooperative framework and formulate joint responses to achieve 2050 Net Zero.

During the meeting, attendees shared updates on key issues, including major energy sources and current consumption patterns, energy and greenhouse gas management statuses, 2025 achievements, and implementation plans for 2026. They also addressed responses to the emissions trading scheme, client demands for greenhouse gas reduction, and electricity system restructuring.

In particular, the sessions highlighted best practices for energy conservation and carbon reduction, exploring collaborative methods and benchmarking strategies to scale and apply these successes across the entire group.

The exchange meeting was organized to proactively respond to a rapidly shifting business environment characterized by tightening global carbon regulations and growing demands for carbon reduction across supply chains. By sharing practical execution strategies—such as improving energy efficiency, expanding renewable energy, and identifying new greenhouse gas reduction projects—the participants bolstered the group's collective capacity to tackle carbon neutrality.

Moving forward, the group affiliates plan to enhance their execution of carbon neutrality targets through a phased approach. While continuing to share best practices in energy and carbon management and co-developing reduction projects, they will also evaluate the integration of renewable energy, advance emissions allowance management, and establish an integrated monitoring system.

"Carbon neutrality is a critical agenda that determines corporate competitiveness and supply chain sustainability," a Hankook & Company official said. "By pooling the capabilities of our group affiliates, we aim to generate tangible reduction results and continuously strengthen our execution to achieve our 2050 carbon neutrality target."
