Polyphenol Factory announced on June 11 that the newly launched “Grabity Hair Recovery PDRN Shampoo” (hereafter PDRN Shampoo) under its hair‑care brand Grabity sold out within three days of release.

Grabity Shampoo has consistently set records since its domestic launch in 2024, when initial stock sold out in 109 hours. It later achieved a 39‑minute sell‑out on Olive Young’s online store, ₩10 billion in sales during a 40‑minute broadcast on Lotte Home Shopping’s “Choi Yu‑ra Show” (with peak sales of ₩24 million per minute), and a sell‑out on Amazon in the United States.

The new PDRN Shampoo incorporates “marine microalgae‑derived PDRN,” successfully mass‑cultured by Professor Lee Hae‑shin’s KAIST research team. To address the issue of water‑soluble PDRN washing away easily, Polyphenol Factory applied its polyphenol‑based adhesive coating using “coacervate” technology, allowing the ingredient to remain longer in hair. Coacervate refers to a water‑soluble solution that does not mix with water.

The PDRN Shampoo is designed to simultaneously improve hair density, texture, and shine. Certified human application tests confirmed a 73.66% reduction in hair loss during washing after two weeks of use. After a single use, hair root volume improved by 43.02%, scalp soothing indicators by 68.04%, and hair gloss by 61.62%.

Professor Lee commented, “PDRN has traditionally grown around specific raw materials and limited applications, but now brands that directly understand and design raw materials can become central in hair‑care and beauty. Grabity’s PDRN Shampoo is the first case of commercializing marine microalgae‑derived PDRN cultured directly by our research team into a hair‑care product.”

Grabity immediately switched to pre‑orders after the sell‑out, with sequential deliveries scheduled from June 15 as additional stock arrives.
