Naver has introduced a passport verification service for foreign users, enabling them to conveniently use services such as reservations, orders, and payments through Naver platforms.

The company said on Monday that the service allows foreigners holding passports issued outside South Korea to access its services without requiring a local mobile phone number or customer center verification.

Naver added that the system strengthens reliability and security through multiple verification steps. The move aims to address inconvenience faced by short-term visitors who do not have Korean mobile numbers when making reservations or payments at popular restaurants and travel destinations.

The company has also expanded global login options and is preparing additional language support to make its services more accessible to foreign tourists.

Previously, Naver launched a multilingual map service in 2018. In December 2024, it also began providing detailed multilingual guides on using Naver Map, including how to explore destinations and navigate public transportation.

Na Yoon-jae, head of Naver’s Digital ID & Authentication division, said the service was designed to improve travel experiences for foreign visitors in Korea, adding that Naver will gradually expand its applications and strengthen language support to enhance global user convenience and safety.
