Hanwha Aerospace has appointed Kim Dong-hyun, head of its Land Systems (LS) Division, as chief of its Australian subsidiary, the company said Tuesday.
Kim will continue to serve as head of the LS Division at the company’s headquarters while concurrently leading the Australian business.
According to Hanwha Aerospace, Kim will oversee key operations at the H-ACE manufacturing facility in Geelong, Victoria, including management of production capabilities and development of the local supply chain ecosystem in Australia.
Kim has worked at Hanwha Aerospace for more than 20 years, serving in various leadership roles including head of research, plant manager and division chief. He is credited with expanding the scale of the company’s LS business more than tenfold.
Hanwha Aerospace is currently focused on meeting production schedules for the AS9 self-propelled howitzer and Redback infantry fighting vehicle programs underway in Australia. The company is also pushing to establish substantive local research and development capabilities while ramping up operations at H-ACE as a manufacturing hub.
A Hanwha Aerospace official said the company would “further accelerate efforts to strengthen execution capabilities in the Australian business.”
