Samsung Electronics has appointed Lee Won-jin as the new head of its Visual Display (VD) business, aiming to drive a turnaround in its TV division.

The company announced on May 4 that Lee, currently head of the Global Marketing Office, will take over as head of the VD business under the Device eXperience (DX) division. He will also concurrently lead the Service Business team.

Lee is widely regarded as a leading expert in content, services, and marketing. He has played a key role in strengthening Samsung’s TV and mobile service businesses, contributing significantly to enhancing the company’s global competitiveness.

Samsung said the appointment is intended to usher in a new phase of growth for its TV business. “With his extensive experience and deep market understanding, Lee is expected to lead a business turnaround from a fresh perspective and further strengthen global competitiveness,” the company said.

Meanwhile, Yong Seok-woo, the former head of the VD business, has been reassigned as an advisor to the head of the DX division.

Leveraging his strong background in research and development and broad business experience, Yong is expected to provide strategic guidance on future core technologies, including artificial intelligence and robotics across Samsung’s device businesses.
