Hyundai Engineering & Construction has been ranked No.1 globally in the construction sector in S&P Global’s sustainability assessment, underscoring its leadership in environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices.

The company announced on April 28 that it achieved the top position in the construction category of the Dow Jones Best-in-Class (DJ BIC) index, part of S&P Global’s Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA).

The DJ BIC index is a revamped version of the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI), selecting the top 10% of the world’s 2,500 largest companies by market capitalization based on sustainability performance.

Hyundai E&C has been included for 16 consecutive years across all regional indices — global, Asia, and Korea — making it the only domestic construction firm to achieve this record.

It was also named to the “Yearbook 2026” Top 10% list by S&P Global.

The company attributed its strong performance to enhanced ESG management systems, including:

The company is strengthening its ESG management framework by implementing a Scope 3 emissions management system, establishing company-wide ESG IT systems, enhancing internal sustainability controls, and expanding disclosures to include ESG data from its subsidiaries.

Hyundai E&C has maintained an integrated A rating for eight consecutive years from the Korea ESG Standards Institute (KCGS).

It also earned A ratings in global benchmarks such as the MSCI ESG assessment and the CDP.

Looking ahead, the company plans to accelerate its transition to renewable energy, develop eco-friendly technologies, and strengthen ESG management across its supply chain.

“As a global construction leader, we will take the lead in achieving carbon neutrality and creating social value to drive a sustainable future for humanity,” a company official said.
