K-pop girl group IVE returned on Feb. 23 with its second full-length album Revive+, expanding its musical spectrum and broadening its narrative from a focus on “I” to “we.”
The group held a comeback showcase at YES24 Live Hall in Seoul to mark the release of the new album, its first studio project in nearly three years since 2023’s I HAVE IVE.
Leader An Yu-jin explained that the album title carries the meaning of “reigniting a spark.” “We wanted to show the energy we’ve built as IVE on a broader scale,” she said. “As this is a full-length album, we had many discussions among ourselves and reassessed our direction as a team.”
IVE has previously been known for delivering confident, self-assured messages centered on individuality. With all members now adults, the group said it aimed to present a more mature stage. “This album is characterized by its expansion into ‘we,’” the members said, while Jang Wonyoung noted that the team focused on exploring new visuals and atmospheres beyond fixed images.
The 12-track album features double title songs, “Black Hole” and “Bang Bang,” which highlight contrasting musical styles. “Bang Bang” emphasizes fast-paced progression and direct energy, while “Black Hole” is built on a shuffle-based rhythm with a heavier, moodier tone. By promoting two title tracks simultaneously, the group aims to showcase the breadth of its musical identity.
Member Gaeul said, “Because it’s our first full-length album in three years, we felt a strong sense of responsibility. We prepared hard to show how much we’ve grown and evolved.” Rei added that the group worked to clearly capture the distinct color it has built under the name IVE.
IVE has achieved seven consecutive million-seller records through its previous releases and expanded its global presence with international promotions and major award wins. An Yu-jin expressed gratitude to fans and staff for the group’s achievements, saying, “Through this promotion, we want to make our team’s color even clearer.”
Looking ahead, Liz said the group hopes to become “a team that makes people curious about what we’ll do next,” emphasizing variation and reinvention rather than repeating familiarity.
Revive+ was released on major streaming platforms at 6 p.m., marking the start of IVE’s new promotional cycle.
