Former President Yoon Suk-yeol is scheduled to attend a screening of the documentary film Rigged Election: A Work of God? on May 21. This marks his first public appearance since being unanimously removed from office by the Constitutional Court on April 4.
According to a report by News1, former Korean history lecturer Jeon Han-gil, a vocal supporter of Yoon’s imposition of martial law, invited the former president to a morning screening at a theater in Dongdaemun, Seoul, and confirmed that they would watch the film together.
On May 17, Yoon announced his departure from the People Power Party via Facebook, writing, “I’m leaving the People Power Party to fulfill my duty to protect the Republic of Korea.” He added, “This election is our last chance to stop totalitarian dictatorship and safeguard liberal democracy and the rule of law.”
