Progressive forces, led by the Democratic Party of Korea, are reportedly considering a plan to split up the Defense Counterintelligence Command (DCC) ahead of the upcoming presidential election. The move, framed as a reform effort in response to the DCC’s leading role in the December 3 martial law controversy, is drawing criticism for potentially undermining national counterespionage operations and creating security gaps.
