Following the impeachment of former President Yoon Suk-yeol, members of the ruling People Power Party (PPP) are advocating for a 'double-track strategy' to secure victory in the upcoming presidential election. This approach involves uniting the party's base while collaborating closely with Yoon to galvanize supporters who opposed his impeachment.

On April 6, discussions within the PPP emphasized the necessity of consolidating the conservative bloc to extend the party's governance. Kim Seong-hoe, former Presidential Secretary for Religious and Multicultural Affairs, stated, "The party's presidential candidate should campaign alongside Yoon to reignite the passion of citizens who opposed the impeachment. By mobilizing these awakened citizens, we can achieve victory."

Yoon has also expressed his commitment to remain politically active despite his removal from office. Through his legal representatives, he conveyed, "Although I have stepped down from the presidency, I will remain by your side." He encouraged his supporters to "have confidence and courage."

However, it remains uncertain whether all potential PPP presidential candidates will align themselves with Yoon. Figures such as Minister of Employment and Labor Kim Moon-soo and Daegu Mayor Hong Jun-pyo have expressed regret over the impeachment but have not explicitly committed to joint campaigning with Yoon.

A PPP official noted, "While it's natural to embrace the fervent supporters who opposed the impeachment, the main election will hinge on appealing to centrist voters, which may necessitate adjustments to our strategy."
