Commissioned by AsiaToday, R&Search conducted the poll on 1,085 adults nationwide on Tuesday-Wednesday. In a multilateral race, Kim gained 40.4 percent of support among PPP supporters, 13.4 percentage points ahead of Ahn with 27 percent. Compared to the previous survey conducted on February 6, support for Kim rose 8.1 percentage points, while support for Ahn plunged 9.1 percentage points. Lawyer Chun Hae-ram placed third with 13.1 percent, closely trailed by former Prime Minister Hwang Kyo-ah at 12.3 percent.
Among active PPP supporters who think that the Yoon Suk-yeol administration is doing very well, Kim received 56 percent of support, widening the lead over Ahn with 21.6 percent. Hwang and Chun followed with 14.1 percent and 4.7 percent, respectively. Kim received much support among PPP supporters and active PPP supporters in the multilateral race, proving the recent rise. The poll showed that Ahn was closely chased by third-place candidate Hwang.
Kim received support from all age groups evenly. In particular, he gained support from those in their 40s and 60s and older with 44.5 percent and 43 percent, respectively. The runner-up Ahn earned 22.3 percent of support from those in their 40s and 26 percent among those in their 60s and older. Hwang, who has solid support from senior groups, won 13 percent of support among those in their 60s and older. Chun won 22.6 percent of support among those over 18 and in their 20s, slightly ahead of Ahn with 22.5 percent. On the other hand, Chun received only 6.1 percent among those in their 40s and 10.2 percent among those in their 60s.
Ahn, who has shown confidence in the Seoul metropolitan area, lost of Kim in approval ratings in Seoul as well as Gyeonggi and Incheon. Kim received 38 percent and 44.2 percent of support in Seoul and Gyeonggi-Incheon region, respectively, while Ahn received 33.1 percent and 25.8 percent. In particular, Kim received 50.7 percent in Daejeon-Chungcheong-Sejong-Gangwon, far ahead of Ahn with only 15.5 percent.
The poll had a margin of error of plus or minus 3.0 percentage points at a 95 percent confidence level. More details can be found on the websites of the National Election Poll Review Committee and R&Search.
