Former BIGBANG member Seungri has been sentenced to three years in prison on Thursday on nine charges, including prostitution mediation and overseas gambling.

The Army’s general military court in Yongin ordered a three-year prison term to Seungri, whose real name is Lee Seung-hyun, and a forfeiture of 1.15 billion won. The court also ordered his personal information to be registered in the national registry.

The military court pleaded guilty to all the nine charges, which also include operation of an unlicensed adult entertainment establishment and embezzlement. “The defendant’s crimes that commercialized sex have a large negative impact on society,” the court said. “Gambling by an entertainer, who receives public attention, has a large ripple effect, such as undermining the sound work ethics of our society,” it said.

In the previous hearing on July 1, military prosecutors demanded a 5-year prison term.
