Singer Yoo Seung-joon, who has been deported from Korea and banned from entering Korea for military evasion, made a public apology.

On May 19, Yoo Seung-joon spoke about the issue for the first time via Internet broadcast Afreeca TV.

Yoo Seung-joon said, "I don't know what I should say first and honestly, my head is blank. First of all, I should apologize to the citizens."

Then he went down on his knees and said, "Hello, it's singer Yoo Seung-joon. The reason I am kneeling in front of you is I don't think that I would be able to fully express my feelings, so I wanted to show my apologizes. This won't be a place where I confess my feelings, nor a place to give an excuse. It will be a place where I make an apology to you."

He said, "Before talking about my story, I wanted to apologize for causing a public disturbance and disappointing the citizens, Minister of Justice, Director of Military Affairs, Head of Immigration Management, and to those young people who are currently serving in the military. Today I'm here to express my heart honestly."

Meanwhile, Yoo Seung-joon was a dance singer who enjoyed enormous popularity in the early 2000s after debuting with "Nightmare" in 1997. He was one of the most popular male solo singers.

However, after obtaining American citizenship just three months before his enlistment date in 2002, he was banned from entering Korea.
