Chey Tae-won, Chairman of SK Group, will present a "new-value capitalism" for the artificial intelligence (AI) era on EBS's Great Minds. This reflects an economic approach centered on resolving social issues that Chey has experimented with over the past decade. Alongside this, Chey plans to reaffirm his proposal for South Korea-Japan economic solidarity to unlock new growth opportunities.

SK announced on the 8th that Chairman Chey will appear on EBS's Great Minds. The program explores critical questions confronting humanity, having featured economists, philosophers, scientists, and artists.

This time, Chey raises questions about our role amid industry shifts across semiconductors, energy, and telecommunications as he leads the conglomerate. He plans to address these questions from perspectives such as whether the economy can solve social problems, how to build an AI-native society, and whether solidarity with Japan is necessary.

Specifically, Chey proposes a new-value capitalism that measures outcomes generated by solving social problems and provides commensurate compensation. The concept envisions turning the resolution of social challenges directly into economic activity. This also reflects initiatives Chey has tested over the past ten-plus years through the Center for Social Value Enhancement Studies.

He also emphasizes ways to leverage AI. Chey diagnoses that creating AI services essential to our society is key. Accordingly, he will explain methods for applying AI to transition toward an AI-native society.

Chey will also share his vision for South Korea-Japan economic solidarity. Amid shifts in the global economic order such as U.S.-China rivalry, Chey views that South Korea and Japan need to expand ties beyond simple cooperation to the level of an economic community. He plans to propose that energy, AI, healthcare, tourism, and jobs be treated as priority agendas for the two nations to address together.

In addition, Chey will offer answers grounded in his own experiences during a discussion session with young adults.

His lectures will air on EBS 1TV on weekdays from October 12 to 16 at 11:45 p.m.
