kt cloud is participating in a 50-megawatt (MW) AI data center project being built in Cheongna, Incheon.

On the 7th, kt cloud announced the move, stating it aims to expand its AI data center supply base in the Seoul metropolitan area. The Cheongna AI Data Center will be built with two basement levels and 11 above-ground floors, featuring a power receiving capacity of 50MW. Construction is scheduled to break ground in the fourth quarter of this year, aiming for completion in the first quarter of 2030.

The company will participate in the project as a Design-Build-Operate (DBO) partner, overseeing overall operations including data center design consulting, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) equipment installation, as well as stability and operational verification. Hyundai Engineering, as a co-constructor, will handle architectural, civil engineering, facility, landscaping, and telecommunications work, along with MEP construction.

The Cheongna AI Data Center will feature a hybrid data hall structure capable of accommodating both AI infrastructure and general cloud demand simultaneously. It plans to respond flexibly to client infrastructure needs by configuring separate zones: an "AI Zone" based on Direct-to-Chip (D2C) liquid cooling for operating high-density graphics processing unit (GPU) servers, and a "Cloud Zone" dedicated to general-purpose cloud services.

Kim Bong-gyun, CEO of kt cloud, said, "We expect the Cheongna AI Data Center to serve as a key hub in the western metropolitan cluster, effectively addressing demand from domestic and international corporate clients requiring large-scale AI infrastructure. We will continue expanding our AIDC supply base across both metropolitan and non-metropolitan regions, turning our 1GW AIDC target into reality based on our differentiated technical capabilities."

In response to surging demand for AI infrastructure, kt cloud plans to expand its business with the goal of securing more than 1 gigawatt (GW) of AIDC supply capacity by 2031. In the capital area, it will reinforce its supply base by linking existing data centers with new hubs, while also broadening its nationwide infrastructure footprint by pushing forward large-scale AIDC construction in non-metropolitan areas such as Gunsan.

Alongside these efforts, the company intends to advance next-generation AIDC technologies—including liquid cooling, modular, and prefabricated systems—drawing on the experience and technical capabilities accumulated across the entire design, build, and operate (DBO) lifecycle. Through this approach, it plans to meet rapid growth in AI infrastructure demand while continuously sharpening its competitiveness in data center development and operation.
