President Lee Jae-myung stated on the 28th, "We will do our utmost to create a transparent and fair market environment so that the Republic of Korea can leap forward into the most attractive capital market in Asia."

President Lee delivered these remarks through a video congratulatory address at the opening ceremony of Korea Premium Week 2026, held at The Plaza Hotel Seoul in Jung-gu, Seoul, on the same day.

"Far beyond a simple venue for trading, the capital market serves as a core growth engine that awakens the nation's potential and breathes life into future innovative industries," President Lee said. "The South Korean government has been consistently pursuing institutional innovations on all fronts to resolve the 'Korea discount' cited as a structural constraint of the domestic capital market and transform it into a 'Korea premium.'"

He continued, "Through multiple amendments to the Commercial Act, we have significantly strengthened protections for shareholder value, cracked down harder on and stiffened penalties against unfair trade practices to restore market confidence, focusing our full energy on fundamentally revamping the underlying structure of the capital market."

Furthermore, President Lee noted, "I hope this event serves as a fruitful opportunity to confirm the dynamic growth potential of South Korea's capital market and discover promising investment opportunities."

Korea Premium Week is an integrated public-private briefing on the South Korean capital market organized by the Financial Services Commission and the Korea Exchange, launched this year.
