The U.S. House of Representatives has passed a resolution demanding an end to the war with Iran. Marking the third time the chamber has called on President Donald Trump to withdraw U.S. troops from Iran, the measure drew support from three additional Republicans, fueling analysis that anti-war sentiment is growing even within the president's own party.

According to outlets including CNN and the Associated Press on the 15th (local time), the War Powers resolution passed in an afternoon roll call by a vote of 220 to 204. As in previous votes held in June and July, Democrats backed the measure unanimously while picking up expanded Republican support.

A total of seven Republicans voted in favor, with Representatives Mariannette Miller-Meeks and Zach Nunn of Iowa, along with Representative Nancy Mace of South Carolina, newly joining the affirmative ranks.

Following the vote, Representative Nunn posted on social media, writing that he "will not support another open-ended war," adding, "We can defend Americans, pressure Iran, and pursue peace while ensuring Congress fulfills its constitutional responsibility."

Representative Seth Moulton (D-MA) also remarked, "Remember when Donald Trump said that this war would last just a few weeks? It is time for Congress to actually ask tough questions, as the Constitution directs us to do, rather than be subservient to another warmongering administration."

Conversely, Representative Brian Mast (R-FL) argued, "Iran remains a continuous ongoing threat to the United States," asserting that "President Trump is ending forever wars."

Although the resolution faces an uncertain path through the Senate, Democrats plan to push for another vote in the upper chamber this week. The Senate previously attempted to rein in President Trump's war against Iran in June, but a follow-up effort collapsed after two Republican senators who had initially backed the measure reversed course under pressure from the president.

While Congress has repeatedly sought to restrict the Trump administration's military action against Iran, earlier resolutions stalled in the legislative process before reaching the president's desk.
