Director Christopher Nolan's film Odyssey has become the second release this year to surpass 10 million cumulative admissions.

Distributor Universal Pictures announced on the 6th that Odyssey surpassed 10 million cumulative admissions at 4 p.m. that day. This marks the second film released this year to reach the milestone, following director Jang Hang-jun's The Man Who Lives with the King. Among foreign films released in South Korea, it is the 10th to hit the benchmark, and the 35th overall including both domestic and foreign films. Following Interstellar (2014), this is Nolan's second time reaching 10 million admissions in South Korea. To date, the only foreign directors to produce two or more 10-million-ticket blockbusters in South Korea are James Cameron (Avatar, Avatar: The Way of Water) and the Russo brothers (Avengers: Endgame, Avengers: Infinity War).

Odyssey is a cinematic adaptation of Homer's ancient Greek epic Odyssey, depicting the adventures and reflections of Trojan War hero Odysseus (played by Matt Damon) during his 20-year journey home. It marks the 13th feature film by Nolan—who swept seven categories including Best Picture and Best Director at the 96th Academy Awards in 2024 with Oppenheimer—taking 16 years to bring to the screen. In particular, it generated major buzz and fueled an "IMAX craze" as the first film in cinematic history to be shot entirely with 70mm IMAX film cameras across its entire 172-minute running time.

Odyssey has held the No. 1 spot at the box office continuously since its release on the 5th of last month. It recorded the fastest box office pace among films released this year, crossing 1 million admissions on its fourth day, 5 million on its 13th day, and 8 million on its 24th day. It finally hit the 10-million-viewer milestone on its 33rd day of release.
