The Ministry of Employment and Labor conducted a search and seizure operation on the 2nd at a Coupang logistics center where an entrapment accident occurred.

The ministry stated that the Seongnam Branch of the Central Regional Employment and Labor Office and the Gyeonggi Nambu Provincial Police Agency are carrying out a raid on the Coupang Fulfillment Gyeonggi Gwangju Center 3 regarding an injury accident involving a worker that occurred on the 23rd of last month at a logistics center in Gwangju, Gyeonggi Province.

Approximately 30 labor inspectors and police officers were mobilized for this search and seizure. Investigative authorities plan to secure personal computers of officials and closely examine whether the business operator fulfilled safety measure obligations concerning the entrapment disaster that occurred during stand-up forklift operations.

The Seongnam Branch of the Central Regional Employment and Labor Office stated that it gravely recognizes the severity of recurring accidents in logistics operations and will strictly investigate whether there were violations of the Occupational Safety and Health Act.

Meanwhile, the labor ministry previously indicated its policy to actively utilize compulsory investigations, including search, seizure, and arrest, when large-scale fatal accidents occur or when the same types of accidents repeatedly happen due to failure to observe baseline safety protocols.
