Kakao AI Sail hosts technology conference Kakao AI Sail Summit 26 in Busan. / Kakao

Kakao is establishing a forum for technical exchange in Busan to foster local artificial intelligence (AI) talent and startups. By connecting the Kakao Group's AI transformation (AX) experience, research capabilities from four major science and technology institutes, and technologies from global companies, the plan aims to build a regional ecosystem outside the Seoul metropolitan area leading to AI entrepreneurship and commercialization.

Kakao AI Sail, Kakao's dedicated organization for nurturing regional AI talent and enterprises, announced on the 1st that it will host the "Kakao AI Sail Summit 26" at the Busan Port International Exhibition & Convention Center (BPEX) on the 29th. The event will target approximately 800 attendees, including entrepreneurs, startup personnel, students, and developers.

Kakao AI Sail is a private-cooperation organization combining the technology and business infrastructure of the Kakao Group with the research and technical capabilities of the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST), Daegu Gyeongbuk Institute of Science and Technology (DGIST), and Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology (UNIST). It was launched to foster local AI talent and support startup ventures and business growth. This event was organized to promote AI Sail's strategic direction and expand engagement between domestic and international technology/industry partners and local businesses.

Technical practitioners from Kakao and its affiliates, global corporate experts, local entrepreneurs, and academic experts will participate in the event. Keynote sessions will introduce the vision, business direction, and AI infrastructure of Kakao AI Sail, while sharing the Kakao Group's AX strategies, industry-specific AI transformation cases, panel discussions with local entrepreneurs, and solutions from global tech partners.

Programs will also be operated to connect technical exchanges directly to entrepreneurship and commercialization. At global partner booths, AI technologies and solutions will be introduced alongside business consultation sessions. At "Ralpathon," an AI agent hackathon tailored for prospective entrepreneurs, students from the four major science and technology institutes and local talent will validate ideas using AI agents and develop demonstrable products within a single day.

Kim Young-deok, head of the Kakao AI Sail Center, said, "Based on Kakao's technological expertise and business experience combined with the research capabilities of the four major science and technology institutes, we will connect insights from domestic and international tech partners." He added, "We will revitalize the regional AI ecosystem and help local companies expand into the global market."

Applications for participation are accepted free of charge on the Kakao AI Sail website through the 6th.
